Dr Yanwei Pang received the PhD degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), China, in 2004.  He spent ten months at Microsoft Research Asia as a visiting student. He worked as a postdoctor at USTC from March 2005 to December 2006. In January 2007, he joined the School of Electronic Information Engineering at the Tianjin University, where he is currently an associate professor.  His research interests include face recognition, people tracking, subspace learning, manifold learning, tensor analysis, web searching and mining.

He is a member of the IEEE. He is a reviewer for the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, Neurocomputing (Elsevier), Image and Vision Computing (Elsevier),  IEEE Signal Processing Letters, IEEE Transactions on Systems Man, and Cybernetics - Part B, International Journal of Computer Mathematics (Taylor & Francis), and Signal Processing (Elsevier).

He has been on the program committees of the 2007 IEEE International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics, 2007 IEEE Pacific-Rim Symposium on Image and Video Technology, IADIS e-Commerce 2006 Conference, IADIS e-Commerce 2007 Conference , 2007 IEEE Pacific-Rim Symposium on Image and Video Technology, 12th Pacific-Asia Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining .
